Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist - the Sacraments of Initiation - lay the foundations of every Christian life, and allow for the faithful to be born renewed and strengthened into the Christian faith.
During his lifetime, Christ instituted these two sacraments because the new life he gives us can be weakened and even get lost in sin. As such, Christ allowed for the church to continue his work of healing.
The two sacraments of Holy Orders and Matrimony, confer a special grace for a particular mission in the Church to serve and build up the People of God. They contribute in a special way to ecclesial communion and to the salvation of others.
