Go.......

God's Spirit is in my heart, He has called me and set me apart. This is what I have to do,
what I have to do. He sent me to give the Good News to the poor. Tell prisoners that they are prisoners no more. Tell blind people that they can see. And set the downtrodden free. And go tell everyone the news that the Kingdom of God has come. And go tell everyone the news that the Kingdom of God has come.

Today we reflect on the profound message of the Great Commission, a charge given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ before he ascended into heaven.  Jesus said to His disciples, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.”

These words are not merely a suggestion or a piece of advice; they are a mandate for every follower of Christ. They encapsulate the essence of our mission as Christians – to proclaim the Gospel, to make disciples, and to be witnesses to the love and grace of God in every corner.

The Great Commission challenges us to step out of our comfort zones, to go beyond the confines of our culture and communities, to reach out to those who have not yet heard the good news of salvation. It calls us to be ambassadors of Christ, shinning the light of His truth and love into the darkness of ignorance and despair.

Jesus did not say: “Go, make buildings, churches, schools, programs and activities. He said: “Go...make disciples” The word “go” in the original Greek language is more accurately translated “as you go”, and so the phrase means something more along the lines of “be a disciple maker as you go about your daily life.” The Great Commission is not only a global mandate but simply a summons to be on mission daily wherever we are in our sphere of influence, regardless of whether we are missionaries, doctors, lawyers, sales assistants, baristas, online influencers, you-tubers, carers, or parents.

But how do we fulfill this great task? How do we go about making disciples of all nations?

First and foremost, we must be rooted in our own relationship with Christ. We cannot share what we do not possess. Therefore, let us commit ourselves to a life of prayer, study of Scripture, and in participation of the Sacraments, so that we may be filled with the Holy Spirit and empowered to fulfill the mission entrusted to us.

Secondly, we must be willing to step out in faith, trusting in the guidance and provision of God. Like the disciples who left everything to follow Jesus, we must be ready to leave behind our comfort and security, knowing that He calls us as is faithful, to equip us for the task at hand.

Thirdly, we must be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, recognising that the work of evangelisation is ultimately the work of God. It is He who opens hearts and minds to receive the Gospel, and it is He who empowers us to be effective witnesses in word and deed.

Finally, let us remember that the Great Commission is not just about making converts; it is about making disciples. It is a lifelong journey of growth and transformation in Christ, marked by repentance, faith, and obedience. Therefore, let us be committed to walking alongside those whom we have the privilege to lead to Christ, nurturing them in their faith and helping them to become mature followers of Him.

My dear friends, as we reflect on the great Commission today, let us recommit ourselves to the task of making disciples of all nations. Let us be bold and courageous in sharing the love of Christ with others, knowing that He who has called us is faithful to fulfill His purpose through us.

May the words of Jesus echo in our hearts and guide us in our mission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” Remembering His promise, “I am with you always, to the very end of age”. Amen.

Just as the Father sent me, So I'm sending you out to be. My witnesses throughout the world, The whole of the world. Don't worry what you have to say, Don't worry because on that day, God's Spirit will speak in your heart, Will speak in your heart. And go tell everyone the news that the Kingdom of God has come. And go tell everyone the news that the Kingdom of God has come.
