The Lay Pastoral ministers from across our diocese gathered at Sion house on Wednesday, September 13, for a day of learning, listening and sharing. The day commenced with a prayer led by Peggy Harvey, the Pastoral Associate of St. Michael's Parish in Berwick.

Br Tony Clark FMS led the morning session on what Synodality means to the Diocese of Sale. Explaining the meaning and significance of journeying together, the attendees had the opportunity to share their views and concerns on how to involve others, how to include other voices, the hurdles and resistance they face and how to listen to the spirit.

Mass at noon was celebrated by Fr Peter Bickley, who also spoke about the importance of journeying together, sharing one of his personal transformative experiences. Music was led by the sisters of the nativity during Mass, adding to the spiritual atmosphere. The Pastoral associates had an opportunity to renew their commitment towards their ministry.

Lunch provided a valuable opportunity for pastoral associates to connect and mingle with each other. Bishop Greg Bennet and the diocesan staff joined the pastoral associates, taking the opportunity to meet and interact with them. This provided a valuable chance for building relationships and a sense of togetherness.

In the afternoon, the lay pastoral ministers engaged in fruitful discussions, listening and sharing about the signs of life within their respective parishes. This session revealed the vibrancy that exists in our parishes. The enthusiasm and ideas generated during this discussion left the pastoral associates feeling inspired and equipped to do even more for their faith communities.

Lay Pastoral Ministers left the gathering with renewed confidence and a treasury of innovative ideas, poised to enrich their parishes and ensure a brighter future.
